Calling All Widows!
We need your stories, experiences, poems, etc of friendships formed through your journey into and through widowhood for a book we are working on entitled, "Friendships in Widowhood" for Widow2Widow, Inc. a 501(c)3 Non Profit Organization.
The leading we are receiving from our Lord is to provide a widow with a book of hope - to encourage her that yes, life is turned completely upside down - no matter your age or circumstances. But, there is hope in knowing that God will send others to help you with your journey and to walk alongside you as long as you are willing to receive help in whatever way it is offered. These friendships do not have to be other widows, but the story needs to reflect in 500 words or less how the Lord sent others to help you get through your journey. Perhaps one friendship stands out among all of them, or maybe you wish to submit more than one.
For instance, one of my dearest friends and her husband first befriended my son when I widowed twelve years ago when my son was then 11 and my husband died during our move to Tennessee. That friendship that was formed with my son not only changed him forever, but it has aided in who I have now become. I am no longer the same person I was when I first began my journey. The Lord used some wonderful individuals to help me find another day. I am a better person, not because of losing my husband, but because of his death, I learned about life and how to embrace all there is in this time on earth and to help make it a better world for widows. For 11 years, I have been allowed to serve God, by serving widows and it all began with some amazing and blessed friendships and I want to offer that hope to others that you too will find purpose through this journey, and it starts with accepting changes in friendships and building of new ones.
Everyone has a story to tell, won't you help us to encourage other widows on their journey? We may not be able to use every submission and we reserve the right to edit to fit where needed without changing any of the truths. This is a Christian ministry and therefore ask for politeness in your choice of words, etc. If we do not use your story in the book, we will archive for use at a later date in another project we will possibly be working on and ask you to please check out our website http://www.widow2widow.org/ for more updates and upcoming events.
